Oh, Christmas. What beautiful holiday you are. I wait for you all year long, and not only because of the gifts. It’s all about being with family (the family that sometimes I haven’t seen in years), good food, and the fact that everyone seems to be in a better mood. There are many things to love about Christmas!
And even though there’s a lot to criticize about the festivities, like consumerism, we need to focus on the best of this time of the year. I always read on social media saying that we shouldn’t celebrate Christmas, that it’s just a holiday made by the market. When in reality, they are wrong! What I think, is that they never understood the real meaning of Christmas.
It doesn’t matter your religion or your believes. Christmas is about love, family, and friends. But also, let’s be honest. Who doesn’t want gifts? Everyone wants to get something. Even if it is a simple chocolate! It’s all about the intention. It doesn't matter your religion or your believes. Christmas is about love, family, and friends. Click To Tweet

Things To Love About Christmas
1. Family reunions
Just like I said at the beginning. The family is the main reason to love Christmas. We have the opportunity to gather together. And if you live far away, you can do some arrangements to spend the holidays with your family. Although we all know, that can be difficult sometimes. Mainly because the prices of tickets go up. Just like it happened to me this year! The prices were so high, we just got tickets for the 26th.
2. Great Food
This is one of my favorite things to love about Christmas! Having a great conversation while eating a delicious dinner, is the best! And I don’t know if I’m the only one to think that but, do the leftovers of the Christmas Eve dinner tastes better the next day? For me, it’s like that and I simply love. The turkey, the rice, the applesauce, just everything!
I get hungry just to think about it!
3. Christmas decoration
I love this part! Walking through the streets of the city looking at everyone’s decoration can be so inspiring. The lights and the music. All the fake Santas and those huge trees at the malls. Everywhere looks so much better and it makes me more happy to walk through the streets.

4. It’s a great moment for reflection
This is something to always have in mind during the whole month. Not only because it’s Christmas, but also because it’s the end of the year. Thinking about the highs and lows, and what you learned during the year, can help you to take better decisions in the future.
Thinking about what you have, what you love and what you are grateful for will make the end of the year sweeter. Maybe, there were many bad things, maybe you lost someone important to you. But by thinking about the reasons why that happened, and what you can do to fix it or making it better can make a difference the during the next year. And write them if you can! That way you won’t forget.Thinking about what you have, what you love and what you are grateful for will make the end of the year sweeter. Click To Tweet
5. People make time for friends
I know that we all have busy lives. In general, I’m always available for my friends unless I’m out of the country. But I can do that because I keep a small circle of friends. Other people have many groups of friends, and it can get really hard to make time for all of them. But during Christmas time, everyone tries their best to be available. Between many Secret Santas and dinner invitations, it is hard to keep up. But everyone makes it possible.
6. Little kids believing in Santa Claus
Is there something cuter than little kids getting all excited by meeting Santa Claus? I love how parents go overboard to make them believe. I’ll be one of those parents. My mom was one of them. She made everything possible to make us believe. Every time I see the kid’s excited faces, because they heard bells, or because Santa ate the cookies it’s seriously the best.
7. Christmas spirit
It’s what we feel on the inside. How happy we feel by sharing these days with others. You can be alone with no decorations but you will remember the importance of what we celebrate. It’s about giving and sharing. Remembering the real story. And by that, you will feel the real Christmas spirit.
8. Pets in Christmas costumes
This comes closer to little kids believing in Santa Claus. I really want to but Coco every costume I see but I know he won’t handle them. He hates every kind of cloth that comes near his little body. So I just have to look at photos of other dogs. Which I don’t mind! They are so adorable!

9. The deals after Christmas day
So yeah, even though gifts aren’t everything, we still need a few things. For the house, for ourselves or for friends and family. Like I said. We shouldn’t focus on the materialistic side. But wanting certain products it’s okay.
And who doesn’t love a good deal? I sure do! it’s like buying chocolate after Valentine’s Day or Easter. After Christmas everything worth more.
10. Christmas lights
It can be similar to the Christmas decoration. But the real magic starts when it’s dark. The lights from my Christmas tree are nothing until night time when we turn off the lights of the house. Or when I’m driving through the city and the trees are decorated with lights. It gives the city another touch.
11. Everyone wants to give to others
You might wait the whole year to do it. Or you simply forgot until now. Giving to charity or volunteering might be something you don’t do regularly, or maybe you do. The point is that the feeling comes stronger during Christmas and it’s the best. Everyone wants to give to others and help each other and I love it!
Here in Chile, there’s a place where you can go to pick up cards that kids wrote to Santa. You can choose one and make their Christmas a little happier. These kids are the ones that are in a tough situation and the whole point of it and keep their hopes up. Some ask for toys and other for dinners. Whatever you are willing to give you will find it there. It is so special!Giving to charity or volunteering might be something you don't do regularly, or maybe you do.
