Chile is catholic country. So Good Friday is a holiday here and people spend this long weekend outside the city and go the beach or countryside to rest and be with their families. Also… all national channels show movies about Jesus, saints… and in general good people who made history. And we can’t forget chocolate eggs on Easter! I definitely love that part of the tradition.
But besides all that, Easter it’s a moment I use to think about my role as a catholic girl and a person. What I should do to make this world a better place? Obviously I can’t help everyone. But I try my best. There are many ways to help others and you can choose the best one that suites your personality. I’m a girl that loves making other people feel better.
If you are sad… I would try to cheer you. If you need a friend to talk. I am available. If you need someone to hear you. I’m the girl for the job! And in general… anything that goes to make people feel better inside. Nowadays, people forget that others have feelings too. They forget to filter some words. And they just want to be mean. Just go to any Facebook News page and scroll trough the comments. It’s so sad.
For me Easter is a day of forgiveness and positive thoughts. Jesus gave his life to save us all. No matter who you were.
Even if you don’t believe in God it is important to understand what’s behind this story. Doing something amazing to save (or help) others and not expect something in return is a selfless act of love. You don’t need to be part of a certain religion to celebrate Easter.
Go outside and spread happiness. Smile and greet everyone, even small acts like that can make the day to someone. The world is passing through hard times right now. We need as much love as we can give. Let’s fight less and forgive more. Not only because it’s the right thing to do, but also because it’s good for your soul.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! And remember… if you need someone to talk. I’m here 🙂
