My mom is the queen of beauty hacks. She is a wise woman who tried so many things during her 20’s she knows what works, what doesn’t and which products are a total lie. She always try to guide me, and I have to admit I just listen to half she says. You know… trying to make my own mistakes in this life.
It was hard to pick a top 5 of her beauty hacks. But at the end I chose the ones I use the most.
1. Don’t dry the water of your face after showering.
I don’t know who told her this. But my mom said it’s a good way to hydrate your face. It works for her and to me as well. It doesn’t mean you have to skip moisturizer.
2. Use baby shampoo from time to time.
The shampoos we use on a daily basis have ingredients that aren’t that great for our hair and scalp. So if you are starting to get some problems you didn’t see before, that means it’s time for a change. I love using Herbal Essence Chamomile Shampoo and Conditioner. But when my hair starts to get oily I change it for the Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. It really works! Baby Shampoos have less chemicals and are more gentle with your scalp and hair.
3. Use aloe vera for you face.
If you are a fan of natural products, you need this. Nothing is more natural than buying the plant! Obviously is easy to buy the products that contain this plant. But it won’t be as natural as this. There was a time when every week my mom would make face masks for her, my sister and me. It was sticky, but my face felt really hydrated.
It’s good for correcting dark spots, it will sooth your skin after shaving, it can erase redness in your skin, it has anti-age properties. And so much more benefits!
4. Heal cracked feet with Vaseline and Baby diaper rash cream.
I know it’s a weird combination… but it works! All you have to do is put in a container a little bit of Vaseline and diaper rash cream. Here in Chile, Hipoglos it’s a really famous brand and it works perfectly. You can find it in Walmart too. But I’m sure any cream will work too.
So when you have the two ingredients, mix them together. Put the mix in where the skin is cracked, and cover the zone with plastic wrap. Make sure to leave it there for a few hours. Even better if you can keep it the whole night.
5. Curl your hair with no heat!
My mom has really curly hair. My hair is a little wavy. But when I was a teenager she forbidden me to use curling irons or hair straighteners. For her, the worst thing I could to my hair is apply unnecessary heat. So she taught me a technique using strips of fabric.
When your hair is nearly dry. Start rolling your hair with the fabric strips. Choose how much hair you want on every strip. When you are done with you all hair go to sleep with it. The next day you will have beautiful curls and you will save your hair of being burnt!
I hope you find these beauty hacks helpful! My mom really had fun helping me to write this. She has so many tips! I know in the future I can write more detailed tutorials with her tips.
