Since I was a little girl, I’ve always been a thinker. I would spend hours at night reflecting about the mysteries of life, or simply overthinking the shows I saw during the day. And I remember clearly how confused I was after watching an episode of SpongeBob where they go to the past, then something happens to the time machine and everything goes white.
I was like 8 years old. And It got me thinking afterward. What was the nothing? Like… it can’t be a color. And it can’t have a smell or a temperature. That led me to think about the universe. For example, What would have happened without the Big Bang? As you can see… once my brain starts. It’s hard to stop it. Thinking about our purpose in life is a question that has always been around me. And is something I still do. Even more after graduating college.
After 17 years of my life dedicating it to study. I was out of my element when I had to start working. And after two internships, I got the bitter taste of what adult life was like. Those two experiences helped to know what I didn’t want in my life. And in a way, it was something good I realized something like that. Finding our purpose in life can be easier for some people, but way harder for others. But, Why are so many people are so eager to figure out the reason why they came to this world? There has to be a motive, right? Well, the reason why is so important to find our purpose in life is that we think that we came to this world to do more than working in a job we don’t enjoy, paying bills, and settling into a routine.
Our purpose in life
It happens to me that. Some days I found my path, then others I’m like. You know what, maybe is this other thing. But after all these years thinking about my purpose in life, some have been repeating. Since I’m little I’ve been very ambitious. And I worry, nearly every day, that I might disappoint that little girl. I wanted to be a vet when I was 5 years old. And when I was 12 years old, I wanted to be a fashion designer (or a student at Hogwarts). Then high school came and I wanted to be an architect, publicist, business woman, graphic designer, attorney, writer, work at the NASA and win a Nobel Peace prize. Yeah, I needed a lot of guidance. But at the end, I was driven by the money I was going to make at some point. And that wasn’t a good choice.
I learned in my philosophy class that the main purpose in life of a human being is being happy. And I can’t say that’s not true since I haven’t met someone who doesn’t want to achieve that. But also, for some; happiness is a journey, not a destination. An everyday state. And I agree with that more.Happiness is a journey, not a destination. Click To Tweet
Why we need a purpose in life?
Finding our purpose in life is discovering what makes us happy every day. What makes us feel passion for living, for waking up every day ready to deal with whatever life throws at us. And not because you know what’s the reason you came to this world, life will get easier. But I’m sure it can lighten up a rough situation.
My purpose in life is helping others. That much I have figured out. How? I’m not sure yet. But I get really happy knowing I can help someone. Even with the most simple things. It might not always be easy. Since I have to admit, I can be very selfish too. So it gets a little hard to do it. But besides that, I know what’s important for me. And I’ll try to get there. That is my mission.
So, the reason why we need to find a purpose in life or realize what is our passion. Is because the world is getting more hostile and less compassionate every day. And I believe that if people took more time to nourish their souls. Fewer people would be offended and angry. I get is hard to do it when there are responsibilities to fulfill. But in my opinion,
But in my opinion, I think we should drive society to another direction. My main concern is the lack of tolerance and how easily people think that can harass another human being. Why is okay to trample others to get to your goal? I might never understand. What I do get, is that we need to spend more time on ourselves. How can we love others if you don’t love yourself first?
It looks so hard to go against the current. But we don’t lose anything if we try. We don’t have to settle and I truly believe that once you know what you came to do on this earth, it will be easier to get direction we were looking for.
