So you decided to make a trip to South America? Great! You will love what we have around here. An important part is to choose how to get there. These days we have many options on airlines… but here not so much. That’s why I’m here! So I can help you to save as much money as you can.
How To Buy Cheap Tickets To South America
My go-to airline to travel around South America is LATAM. Why? They get the job done. I haven’t had any trouble traveling with them. And when they make a mistake they are fair with the passengers. Tickets can be high with them but you need to be smart in the ‘when’ to travel. Better to do it in the low season. That would be from March to June
Also… What I do is to check every country on the website. Sometimes the prices change depending on which page you are. At the top, you can find a list of countries. Click on each of them and see how much are the ticket depending on the country you are. If you check flights from Miami to Lima and you are in the Chilean page then the prices will be different than when you check it from the United States page.
As you can see in the following pictures. The price from the United States page it’s $579.30. But when you look at the Chilean page… it’s not showing any flight for the same dates. And the ones that are showing are over $1,000. So you can gamble over that and pick the best option!
Another thing to have in count when buying tickets is the origin and destination of the flight. The cheapest flights from the USA to South America are from Miami/Fort Lauderdale. And the cheapest destination is Bogota, following closer is Lima.
Knowing that you can look for more affordable options. Those being JetBlue and Spirit. Again… you have to look at the prices carefully here… don’t wait until the last minute and don’t buy them with much time of anticipation. It’s hard to know when it’s the perfect moment to buy tickets, but when you see a pattern stick to it. On Spirit, I found tickets cheaper on Tuesdays. And three weeks before the flight, was a safe time to buy the ticket without them going up.
Now you can also mix airlines! that way you can save money. It’s a little more complicated because you have to make the times coincide and at the same time you need enough time to go through all the boarding process over again.
We did that when my boyfriend came to visit me. So his flights went like this:
Myrtle Beach – Fort Lauderdale – Lima (with Spirit) then Lima – Santiago (with Sky).
Sky is a more affordable Chilean airline that flights through South America.
UPDATE ON HOW TO BUY cheap tickets South America:
If you want to travel around South America, more airlines have started their business with low cost prices. Like JetSmart. Their prices are incredible and even when they charge per bag, it’s not too much.
Well… I hope these tips will help! Let me know in the comments where you want to go and maybe I can personally help you with that!
